Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” hits Top 10 on Billboard from #MannequinChallenge

How did a simple game of freeze push Rae Sremmurd up the charts? Social media, man.

Rae Sremmurd’s song featuring Gucci Mane, “Black Beatles,” took a while for people to get used to, but over the last week or so, it has been climbing the charts. This is the duo’s first top 10–charting single after it jumped seven spots on the Billboard Hot 100 from 16 to 9. This song also makes it Gucci Mane’s highest charting song/feature. The reason for this is the infamous #MannequinChallenge that has been taking the internet by storm.

If you've never come across the mannequin challenge on social media or in the news then you're definitely doing something wrong! The mannequin challenge was started a few months ago by a few high schoolers. The purpose of the challenge is to capture people in a freeze-frame like position as a camera makes its way through the crowd. A track is normally played in the background of the videos, and it's no surprise that the most used song in a majority of these videos has been “Black Beatles.”
