Think back to 2013 when John Legend simultaneously breathed new life into what we thought we knew about piano power ballads, created the go-to jam for wedded couples’ first dances all around the nation, and nabbed his first number-one single in the U.S.

It was “All of Me” and it. was. everywhere.

But it’s been a minute since the 8x-platinum track took over our eardrums and Legend has been busy playing in other arenas: winning Golden Globe and Oscar awards, producing films, exercising his voice in activism and advocacy, rightfully fighting figures like Piers Morgan, etc.

Until now.

Today, the singer shared a snippet of his new single “Love Me Now” and with its tribal drum-driven beat, it sounds like a midtempo R&B banger.

Not surprisingly, the artwork features none other than his wife, Chrissy Teigen, and its lyrics seem dedicated to her, too:

“I don’t know who’s gonna kiss you when I’m gone / So I’m gonna love you now / like it’s all I have / I know it’ll kill me when it’s over/ I don’t wanna think about it / I want you to love me now.”
