Yet another update in the ongoing battle of Lil Wayne v. Birdman has been reported and, this time, Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has been dragged into the fray.
After hinting at being a multi-talent for some time now—don’t forget he’s collaborated with Jahlil Beats and successfully participated in that #SoGoneChallenge—last week, Lillard finally released his debut album The Letter O under his rap moniker Dame D.O.L.L.A.
Featured guests included Jamie Foxx, Juvenile, and Raphael Saadiq, but most outstanding was Lil Weezy himself on album cut “Loyal to the Soil.”
All seemed well until yesterday when the athlete-turned-rapper took to Instagram to announce that the song would have to be pulled from the LP due to a “label.”
Lillard wrote:
“Unfortunately, I am being forced to remove Lil Wayne from my album track ‘Loyal to the Soil’. Despite my agreement with Wayne, his parent label is forcing me to remove him.”
That “parent label” in question would be Cash Money Records.
