Netflix presents biopic on a young Barack Obama

We know "Hotline Bling"–dancing POTUS, but a new fictionalized film will take a look at his formative years in New York City.

Barack Obama is one of the most personable presidents our country has ever seen. Whether or not you agree with his policies, you must admit that he's captured the hearts of many Americans. He's a dedicated father and a loving husband who exemplifies the everyday citizen that worked his way up to the top of the chain. While he's appeared to be an open book, his years as a young student at Columbia University are cloaked in their fair share of mystery.

Joey Bada$$ could have played Barack Obama's best friend in upcoming movie

Lucky for us, Netflix is stepping up the plate with an original film that will premiere Dec. 16 across all Netflix territories. It follows a young Obama (played by Devon Terrell), known to his friends as Barry, as he arrives in New York City in the fall of 1981 to begin his junior year at Columbia University. He finds himself pulled between various social spheres and struggles to maintain a series of increasingly strained relationships with his Kansas-born mother, his estranged Kenyan father, and his classmates.
