"Showtime at the Apollo" returns to network TV with host Steve Harvey

The pioneering show where the audience makes or breaks the talent is giving a shot to a new generation of artists.

James Brown, The Jackson 5, Luther Vandross... the list goes on of greats who graced the stage of the star-making Apollo Theater. Sometimes the audience gets it wrong, too, though: Lauryn Hill and Dave Chappelle were among those to get boo'ed off the legendary Harlem stage. A new generation of artists gets their shot when Showtime at the Apollo returns for a two-hour show December 5 on FOX.

If anyone could revive Showtime at the Apollo, it's Steve Harvey, the man who hosts 1,000 shows at once. Let's just hope he doesn't have another Miss Universe moment.
