Kanye West's ‘Waves’ LP Gets A New Tracklist

Wiz, Mick Jenkins, and more chime in on Ye's new LP title.

UPDATE: The tracklist just got another update.

Never forget. On May 3rd, 2015, Kanye West confirmed that his new album title would change from So Help Me God to SWISH. But it didn’t stop there, because soon after the tweet went live, the “All Day” rapper made sure to mention, “I might change it again but that’s the name now.” Nearly nine months after that announcement, Ye made G.O.O.D. on his promise last night (January 26), when he swapped SWISH for WAVES.

In addition to the switch, West also tweeted out an updated tracklist for the “album of the life,” pushing it from 10 tracks to 11, thanks to an added song, "Ultra Light Beam." The post also suggested possible involvement from Swizz Beatz, The-Dream, A$AP Rocky, and more.

As good of a title it is, the switch caused quite a stir on social media from fans and rappers alike. For one, Waves happens to also be the title of fellow Chicagoan Mick Jenkin’s recent project, which dropped last summer. Making light of the similarity, Jenkins wrote the following:

The indie band Wavves also going into the fray, tweeting “My new album is called ‘Kanye’.”

But while the title generated positive response from most fans, it didn't exactly sit well with others who felt like it impinges on everyone’s favorite Wavy enthusiast Max B and his well-known wavy movement. Wiz Khalifa, who happens to be a devout member of the wave-ment, was one of the many who expressed his thoughts on name change.

Ow!

Other Biggavelli supporters like Chase N. Cashe also did the same.

As you might of guessed, all the mentions of the "Wavy One" made Max B the top trending topic on social media. And with that said, it didn't long before Kanye paid homage.

Kanye's Waves arrives on February 11th, and for all those Wavy fans out there, check out Max B's exclusive REVOLT freestyle below.
