Master bass player Thundercat is the core to the Brainfeeder collective. From his credited collaborations with Flying Lotus, Kamasi Washington and Kendrick Lamar, the introspective funk artist is now making his rounds with his own solo work. Releasing his mini-album The Beyond/ Where the Giants Roam, earlier this summer, Thundercat visits the Santa Monica radio station KCRW, for another sweetly soaked performance to his standout record “Them Changes.”

Offering an acoustic set with keyboardist Dennis Hamm and drummer Justin Brown, Thundercat strutted his musical muscle, also crossing through an intimate take on “Heartbreaks + Setbacks” and “ Lone Wolf And Cub.” It was a virtuosic musical merriment that showcased Thundercat’s creative longevity and his kinship to his feline sonic style.
