"You don’t know ’til it happens to you." This refrain echoes throughout Lady Gaga’s incisive "Til It Happens To You," a single she co-wrote with Hall Of Fame songwriter Diane Warren, created expressly for the campus-rape documentary The Hunting Ground.

Today, the artists released a video for the track which depicts, in stark and emotive cinematic language, the ugly reality and devastating aftermath of these all-too-frequent incidents. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke wrote and directed the treatment, which features Hardwicke's past collaborator Nikki Reed (of Twilight) and DOPE’s Kiersey Clemons. In moving black-and-white vignettes, we see young ladies in typical college environs—a keg party, a dorm room—and we witness the moment their lives change irreversibly, and a cross-section of the endless challenges they face, internally and socially, reconstructing a healthy and coherent world view.
