The critical and huge financial success behind the N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton” may potentially yield a film on something bigger and deffer.

While talks of a “Compton” sequel have been making its way onto the rumor mill these last few weeks, a report by Deadline reveals that Universal might possibly be plotting another high profile music biopic, this time profiling the rise of Def Jam Recordings and its co-founder Russell Simmons.

According to the report, the film would be based on Simmons’ 2002 book “Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money + God,” which, co-written by Nelson George, chronicles the musical pioneer’s career and the creation (alongside Rick Rubin) of Def Jam.

The project is said to be in its early stages, but Michael B. Jordan and Jonah Hill are mentioned as possibles for Simmons and Rubin respectively. However, nothing has been officially confirmed or announced.
